Kent Welch and various partners started an independent real estate company in March 2004. Their vision was to create a real estate company that provided services that were both unique and necessary for new home communities to succeed. They started the company out of a 3-car garage in Wyandotte County, KS and their goal was to dominate the new homes market in Kansas City. Over the next few years they did just that, bringing on 26 new home communities and dozens of agents. This was unparalleled growth for the Kansas City market, which made the company the fastest growing real estate company in the Kansas City Area for three consecutive years. Their approach was successful in part to their emphasis on high-end marketing, premium service, agent relations and hard work.
Existing home sales was also part of their master plan, however, it was not their initial focus. As time passed and market conditions changed, they noticed that the ratio of closings from resale was surpassing new home sales. Therefore, they decided that it was important to seek out the best resale real estate company in the country and independently franchise with them. They spent many months investigating various real estate franchises to find one that focused on real estate technology and had the resources that would help them and their agents to dominate the market. Due to their independent success, many real estate companies were eager to merge or franchise with them. None of which impressed Kent Welch as much as WEICHERT, REALTORS®. So Kent Welch acquired an independent franchise agreement with WEICHERT, REALTORS® on February 01, 2010. Weichert arranged for Welch to merge and acquire an existing local Weichert, Realtors team as well. This doubled their agent base overnight and empowered them with the technology and ability to succeed in resale just as they did previously in new homes.
Part of the success of Welch & Company has been their emphasis on a high-end marketing presence. A marketing department was created and brought in-house in August of 2007. Our attention to detail and knowledge of marketing communications provided Welch & Company with consistent brand power, fast timelines and results that were beyond the client's expectations. New communities were being added, branded and were consistent across all touchpoints. The marketing department’s workload exploded, and their brand power caught the attention of many businesses outside of the real estate industry, which have solicited Blue Carbon Design (the marketing and design arm of Welch & Company) to utilize their services. Blue Carbon Design handles all internal marketing for WEICHERT, REALTORS® Welch & Company and their new home communities as well as existing home sales and marketing. In addition, they have numerous clients outside of the real estate industry.
